Kitchen
The kitchen in a masterpiece of cutting edge design. Cabinets are of maple, with shaker style doors, finished with a clear water based polyurethane that is low VOC compared to typically used laquer, extremely tough, and will never turn yellow. There are pullout shelves wherever possible, drawers with full extensions slides, and an integrated trash cabinet next to the sink.
There is an island, which results in many extra cabinets and a large work surface, as well as casual seating for three or four people. All the kitchen counters are 1.25" thick granite, with almost no seams. The thicker granite does not rely on a glued on piece to make the edging, so the edges are very clean, and follow the patterns in the granite. The granite is black and white with amethyst and areas of quartz. The backsplash is of tile and glass that coordinates with the stainless appliances and the colors in the counter.
The appliances and fixtures are all very high quality. Appliances include a 36" 5 burner Bertazoni range (made in Italy), a Miele dishwasher, and a Jenn-Aire refrigerator. The range features a very large center burner and an assortment of other burners (including two that simmer) and a huge oven with convection. The dishwasher is extremely quiet, and holds more dishes the most due to Miele's unique silverware tray. The refrigerator is a very clean looking cabinet depth dutch door design with cold water. There is a large 2 bowl stainless sink, a KWC faucet, a soap dispenser and filtered cold water tap at the sink.
The sustainably forested Brazilian Teak floors are perfect for a kitchen because they are very hard and dent resistant. They are also finished with a very tough, water based low VOC material.
